On 19th November, 1914, the 20th Hussars of 5 Cavalry Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division, moved into trenches near Whytschaete. These trenches were very close to the enemy line and exposed to sniper and shell fire which were constant dangers. Albert Ansell was killed here on 21st November.
